Nederlandse vlag
The Dutch Health Council has issued her recommendation to replace cytology with hrHPV testing as primary screenings method for cervical cancer. According to the Council, HrHPV testing affords better protection against cervical cancer than cytology. Next to that, a completely new approach is proposed to reach out to women who not attend the screening program. The Council recommends sending a device for self collection of cervico-vaginal material to women who do not attend regular screening. Several trials conducted with Delphi Screener self-sampling method served as input for the recommendation.
